Addilita Cancryn Jr. High School, led by Mrs. Yvonne Pilgram and her dedicated administrative team hosted Stephen Peters on Friday, January 8, 2010. As Cancryn prepares for their students to return on Monday, January 11th, the Addilita Cancryn’s faculty and staff are excited to utilize “Do You Know Enough About Me to Teach Me?” as an additional tool to Capture, Inspire, and Teach their students. Stephen commented as he left St. Thomas, “I came here to inspire, but leave having been inspired.” Cancryn also host a Ladies and Gentlemen’s Club. We look forward to returning soon!

Stephen began the new year delivering what audience members considered, “the best in-service training they had ever experienced.” Stephen enjoyed delivering and then, interacting in an all-day workshop format with his energetic and dedicated audience of administrators, teachers, and support staff members from Dallas ISD’s school district. Hosted by Pinkston and Roosevelt High Schools, other elementary and middle schools from Dallas ISD were part of the morning session keynote address.

64 Ladies and 43 Gentlemen were recently inducted into the 2009/2010 Ladies and Gentlemen’s Clubs at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in South Carolina. Under the leadership of Principal Gregory McCord and a host of great facilitators, the O-W Gentlemen’s Club obtained “Gold Level” status last year and have now added a Ladies Club this school year. one of the nation’s 20 foremost physicians and scientists. That same year, he was selected by

He is also the recipient of the 2006 SpingarnMedal which is the highest honor bestowed by
theNAACP. In February 2008, Carsonwas presentedwith the Ford’sTheatre LincolnMedal by
President Bush at theWhite House. In June 2008, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of
Freedomby the President, which is the highest civilian honor in the land.
Carsonwas recognized in November 2008 by U.S. News &World Report and Harvard’s Center
for Public Leadership as one of “America’s Best Leaders.”On February 7, 2009, themovie entitled
Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story premiered on TNT and is based on his memoir. He is
president and co-founder of the Carson Scholars Fund, which recognizes young people of all
backgrounds for exceptional academic and humanitarian accomplishments. He also cofounded
Angels of the OR,which provides grants to assist familieswith non-coveredmedical
care expenses involving both adult and pediatric neurosurgery.
His is the author of four books: GiftedHands, THINKBIGand TheBigPicture, Take TheRisk: Learning
to Identify,Choose, and LiveWithAcceptable Risk. Carson has beenmarried for over 30 years
to his wife, Candy, and is the father of three sons. And yes, his mother, Sonya Carson, who
made all this possible, is alive and well.

State superintendent Jim Rex and his wife Sue were greeted by a warm and friendly South Carolina crowd as Stephen and Angela Peters hosted a meet and greet event at The Orangeburg Country Club, September 1st. Invited guests had an opportunity to hear Dr. Rex speak of the great work South Carolina educators are doing to make S.C. a progressive school system through making systemic changes. Rex stated, “South Carolina has more single-gender classrooms in tack than any other school system in the nation , as well as, more school choices,” which has become an attraction to many parents and others across the nation.
The Peters’ wanted to give community members and others an opportunity to meet The Rexs’ up close and ask questions as Superintendent Rex continues to lead our state schools with courage.

Stephen Peters is globe trotting this month and Inspiring Teachers to Teach! As one staff development coordinator wrote,” we had an absolutely wonderful back to school in-service due to stephen’s presentation. He is GREAT! So many teachers spoke to me throughout the day telling me how excited and motivated they felt about the upcoming school year. We even had a retired teacher in the audience who told me that Stephen made her wish she could come out of retirement. He did an AMAZING job! ”

Stephen keynoted the WAAW, 94.7 FM radio’s sixth anniversary celebration on July 10th and left with an overwhelming feeling of gratitude and inspiration. The night was filled with positive experiences inclusive of student performances in song, poetry, and dance. A celebration in honor of educators, Stephen was able to highlight national success stories and celebrate the wonderful accomplishments of WAAW, 94.7 FM radio. Stephen says, “meeting Tuskegee airman, Mr. Al Jackson was an inspiring moment!”
